Author's Notes on Rock Force: Corregidor

This is my first attempt at a scenario. I think it plays OK and gives a good sense of the battle. I designed the game around the actual Order of Battle, and all US Leaders named are the real people.

Read Colonel Jones's Operations Order. It worked for him. Keep focused on your four main objectives: Battery Wheeler, east and west ends of Malinta, and Monkey Point. You need all four for a major victory. Don't get into a traffic jam on the beach. Don't land a unit unless you need it and can use it--those armored landing craft are a lot safer than an open beach swept by crossfire. Keep moving right through the minefields. The Reachable Hexes (H key) will indicate you can't enter the minefields--you can, and you'd better, or 3/34th will be cut to pieces on the beach. Keep moving and bypass strong points. Do not attack Pillboxes without armor support. They will need several turns of preparation before any assault. Do not attack anything that does not need to be attacked.

You have lots of Air and Smoke, and it's not enough. Save some for each main objective. The actual Supporting Air Group had 24 B-24s, 12 B-25s (the ones with the 75mm cannon & 50s in the nose), and 70 A-20s. Task Group 77.3 had 2 Heavy Cruisers, 3 Light Cruisers, and 14 Destroyers.

Be warned: I made the Japanese force strong, and they have a fighting chance.
